A funeral for Jeanette will be held at Warroad Community Church on Saturday, March 12th at 2pm with a visitation an hour prior. Luncheon to follow. Interment will be held at a later date.
Jeanette Fish was born in Warroad, MN on March 20th, 1953. In Jeanette’s words, “I came into this world red, wrinkled, scared and crying (you’d be crying too if you knew there were four brothers waiting at home) and I will leave this world in a blaze of glory” After her courageous battle with cancer, she made her journey to Heaven on March 4th, 2022.
The most important thing to Jeanette was her family. She was one of ten children and enjoyed all the love a big family had to offer. She began her own little family in 1971, when she had her son Shane, followed shortly by her daughter Shelia. Jeanette and her two kids moved to Pequot Lakes in 1976, where she later had her third child Samarah. At the age of 45 Jeanette took on the title of Grandma Net, which filled her heart with pride.
Throughout her life, Jeanette had many interests, including playing cards, bingo, casino trips, concerts, traveling, hunting, fishing, bowling and softball. The thing Jeanette enjoyed the most was anything involving her children or grandchildren. Over the years she always made time to be there for her kids and grandkid’s sporting events, recitals and all the other important moments.
Jeanette was a hard worker and held numerous jobs in her lifetime. Her first full time job was at Marvin Windows when she was sixteen. Some other jobs she had over the years included: grocery store manager, planting trees for the DNR and telemarketer for a phone company. She worked for 8 years at Durkee Manufacturing in Pine River, MN. She went on to work for the state of Minnesota as a food service worker and cook at Ah-Gwah-Ching in Walker, MN for 19 years. She finished her career for the state at Anoka Regional Treatment Center, retiring on July 4th, 2016.
Jeanette was an active member of the Warroad Community Church. She enjoyed the fellowship and opportunities to help others grow in Christ. Jeanette said the most important thing she did in this life was to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
Jeanette was a people person, and never met a stranger. She was a true friend and genuinely cared about everyone. This was evident in her last weeks, as there was a revolving door of visitors from various times of her life.
Jeanette is survived by her son, Shane Story of Warroad, MN; daughter, Shelia Turner (Red Erickson) of Warroad, MN; son in law, Rob (Holly) Gerner of Ramsey, MN; grandchildren, Remi Turner (Robert Larson), Shayle Turner, Cohen Gerner, Sylas Gerner, Keenan Rodriguez and Ivory Rodriguez; siblings, Dusty (Sharon) Fish, Mike (Sandy) Fish, Steven Fish, Gerald (Dorothy) Fish, Patrick Fish, Judy (Conrad) Bernard, Nita (Steve) Brosdahl; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Samarah Smith; brothers, Wendell Fish and Paul Fish; parents, Delbert and LaVerne Fish.
