Jeanette Kathrine Book

A Funeral Service for Jeanette Book of Baudette will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Elm Park Cemetery.

Jeanette Kathryn (Bourgeois) Book was born on February 6, 1938 to Joseph and Doris (Belkey) Bourgeois. She was raised on a rural farm in Carp, Minnesota. While attending Carp school at the age of 14 she became the spelling champ of Lake of the Woods County and entered into a competition representing Lake of the Woods County competing against 10 other counties.

On January 9, 1954 Jeanette was united in marriage to Jack Book in Baudette, Minnesota. They started their marriage in Baudette where their first daughter Julie and son Jeff were born. After a few years they moved to Virginia, Minnesota where their third child Joni was born. Then they moved to Minneapolis where their fourth child James was born. They bought a house in South Minneapolis where they resided and raised their family there.

Jeanette was a stay at home mom and cared for her husband and children. Her family was very active in school activities and sports which kept her busy along with the fishing and camping trips. Jeanette was an avid walker and bike rider.

The Book family gathered for Sunday dinners and family reunions, which took her and Jack to many states for vacations. The holidays and many occasions were spent with the Bourgeois family. They returned to the Carp community several times a year.

Jack passed away May 26, 1994 and Jeanette remained in Minneapolis. Jeanette was always there to help out the children and their growing families.

Jeanette is survived by her children Julie Heimerl of White Bear Lake, MN, Jeff (Dawn Froiland) Book of Richfield, MN, Joni Book of Litchfield, MN, James Book of Brooklyn Center, MN. Siblings, Carol Nelson, Judy Bourgeois, Jerome (June) Bourgeois and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette passed away on October 19, 2023 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.
