A Memorial Visitation for Jay Knight of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 3-5 PM at the Warroad Senior Living Center Chapel in Warroad, MN with a prayer service at 4:30PM. Interment will take place at America Cemetery in Warroad, MN.

Joseph (Jay) Jean Knight passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the Warroad Senior Living Center at the age of 63 years, 8 months and 3 days. Jay was born in Warroad, MN on September 30, 1955 to Clair and Elvina (Steele) Knight. He moved with his family to Washington state as a boy and then back to Warroad, MN where he attended school and resided most of his adult life. Jay worked various jobs over his lifetime, including at Marvin Windows, the Warroad Casino and for several Carnival Midway companies through which he had the opportunity to travel to almost every state in the U.S. He also worked for his neighbor and coffee buddy, Oliver Jesme doing septic pumping.

Jay’s hobbies included biking, fishing, putting puzzles together and playing card games. There weren’t many who could beat him at a good game of Cribbage. He enjoyed having coffee with family and friends, going to the casino and traveling when he could. Jay lived most of his life with his folks and helped them with many chores around the farm, working in the garden, mowing the lawn, feeding the chickens, and picking wild blueberries. He helped put up countless cords of wood and kept the fire going just as he promised his folks he would. Jay loved listening to the music of his dad and brothers and always had his favorite requests for them to play. He was a patient and kind spirit who loved animals, kids and everyone he met. More than one person has been known to say of Jay that he didn’t “have a mean bone in his body.”

Jay is survived by his sister Cynthia (Tim) Prothero and brother Bill (Linda) Knight both from Angle Inlet, MN, brothers Dan (Julie) Knight and Harlan Knight both of Warroad, 13 nieces and nephews, 36 great nieces and nephews, one great, great niece and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair and Elvina Knight and one infant brother.
