Jane N. Smith

A memorial service for Jane N. Smith of Roseau, MN will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN following all MN State Covid Guidelines. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Holt, MN.

Jane Norma Smith was born January 7, 1944 in Thief River Falls, MN to Clarence and Anna (Lapic) Smith. She attended school in Holt and Newfolden, MN, then went to one year of junior college at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River falls.

Jane worked for many years as the office manager at Cenex Farmer’s Union Oil Company in Roseau, MN. She took her work seriously but was well liked by her co-workers who have commented that she always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed golfing in the summer and belonged to a bowling league in Roseau. She also traveled occasionally, taking guided group tour trips to different parts of the country.

After retiring in January of 2010 Jane volunteered at the Roseau Senior Center where she enjoyed sewing and making quilts with the other volunteers. She loved creating memory books of her many photos. At Christmas time she enjoyed making fruit cake and gave them to friends and family who loved it.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Jane is survived by her brother Wayne (Margy) Smith of Holt, MN; brother-in-law Roger Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN; nieces and nephews Denise (Scott) Sellin of Audubon, MN, Darryl Leland of Detroit Lakes, Denielle (Justin) Jetenberg of Wadena, MN and Derek (Wendy) Smith of McCanna, ND; great nieces and nephews Brandon Sellin, Hannah Sellin, Steven Sellin, Katherine Smith, Benedict Smith, Madeleine Smith, Ahto Jetenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Kathleen Anderson; and niece, Dorinda Leland.
