James Albin Obituary

Graveside services are being planned for a later date.

James Duane Albin, age 78, of Ortonville, Minnesota, passed away on January 26, 2026, in Ortonville. He was born on January 15, 1948, in Roseau, Minnesota, to John Albin and Margaret (Stoe) Albin.

James grew up in Roseau and graduated from Roseau High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He entered basic training in 1967 and was stationed at Whiting Field Naval Air Base in Florida until 1971, where he worked as an airplane mechanic.

On July 20, 1974, James married Patricia Ann (Tabor) Albin in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and friendship. They welcomed their son, Andrew James Albin, on May 28, 1985.

In 1983, James and Patricia moved to Warroad, Minnesota, where they raised their family and where James began a long and dedicated career at Marvin Windows. Warroad became the place Andrew grew up and the community James proudly called home for many years. James worked at Marvin Windows until his retirement in 2013, earning the respect of coworkers through his reliability and strong work ethic.

Following the passing of his beloved wife Patricia on May 19, 2011, James later moved to Ortonville, Minnesota, in 2017 to be closer to his son—a decision that brought him great joy.

James had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, trivia games, muscle cars, sports, and collecting coins. He loved socializing with friends and family and was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness.

James is survived by his son Andrew Albin (Nicole) of Ortonville, Minnesota; his grandchildren Noah Albin and Isaiah Albin, with another grandchild on the way; his sister Sharon (Albin) Votava of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; his brother Jerome Albin (Mir) of Roseau, Minnesota; and many beloved cousins and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (Tabor) Albin, and his parents, John Albin and Margaret (Stoe) Albin.

James was a Christian, and his family finds comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, reunited with those who went before him. He will be remembered for his laughter, his love of family, and the faith that guided his life.
