Hilma "Vickie" M (Wicklander) Temple

Funeral Services for Hilma “Vickie” Temple of Roseau will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 11:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery,

Vickie Temple passed away on Tuesday, June 4, at LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 93.

Hilma “Vickie” Temple was born on July 4, 1925 in Roseau, MN to Erick and Anna (Carlson) Wicklander she was the fourteenth child of fifteen children. Vickie grew up in Swift, Warroad and Wannaska before moving to Roseau when she was fourteen. On November 13, 1945 she married Douglas E. Temple. They had two children, Susan and Mark. Vickie and Douglas made their home in Northglenn CO where she worked as a Physical Therapy assistant at the Swedish Hospital. She was a caregiver to many and loved it with a passion. After Douglas passed away Vickie met Wayne V. Smith and they were married on April 6, 1991. Vickie and Wayne moved to Lincoln NE, living there for several years.  After Wayne’s passing, Vickie moved back “home” to Roseau in 2014, and resided at Oak Crest until the time of her passing.

Vickie enjoyed quilting, sewing, and dancing; she also had a wonderful sense of humor and wit.  She was very proud of growing up in a large family and her family was so very important to her.   She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Vickie had a strong Christian faith and was always so ready to share this to help others.

Vickie is preceded in death by her husbands, Douglas Temple and Wayne Smith; children, Susan and Mark Temple; her parents as well as eight brothers and six sisters.

She is survived by her stepchildren, Ron (Peggy) Smith in Nebraska, Wayne (Judy) Smith in Nebraska and Linda DePriest in Iowa and sister-in-law Pearl Pim in Washington. Vickie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
