Harry Pederson

Harry Pederson passed away peacefully on June 18, 2023 at the Warroad Senior Living Center at the age of 95.

Harry Pederson was born on May 22, 1928 in Roosevelt, MN to Gust and Hannah (Swenson) Pederson. Harry grew up on the family farm until serving in the U.S. Army in occupied Japan immediately after WWII. Harry returned home to Roosevelt where he met and married Mae Jean Jones on December 30, 1949. Early in the marriage they relocated to Eveleth, MN eventually settling in Minneapolis, MN where they raised five children.

Harry worked at Red Owl Foods and proudly served as the union steward until his retirement in 1985. Harry and Jean moved back to Roosevelt and built a retirement home.

Harry was active in his church and was a proud VFW member. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, and raising chickens. Harry was an “expert” at berry picking, keeping up with his sister, Irene Battles, and not giving up that “secret spot”. Harry was also an avid gardener and would challenge anyone to find even one weed.

Harry is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mae Jean (Jones) Pederson; sons Larry (Becky) Pederson of Roseau, MN, Vernon (Linda) Pederson of Corcoran, MN, Roger (Kim) Pederson of Green Valley AZ, Jeffery (Lisa) Pederson of Ham Lake, MN; daughter Carol (Tim) Casey of Winter Park, FL; twelve grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Alberg of St. Paul, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Sid Pederson and sisters Evelyn Iacarella and Irene Battles.

A memorial service for Harry will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Warroad Baptist Church, 34649 County Road 5, Warroad, MN.
