Harriet Kathleen (Knutson) Olson

A Funeral Service for Harriet Olson of Roseau will take place at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior. A Visitation will also take place the night before, June 6 from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00pm. Interment will be held at Spruce Cemetery in Roseau.

Harriet Kathleen Olson (Knutson) passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023 at the Warroad Senior Living Center at the age of 90. Harriet was born to Knute and Hazel (Olson) Knutson on January 28, 1933 in Ross Township. Harriet attended Fox Country School and attended Roseau School through 9th grade. She married the love of her life, Orvel Olson on September 12, 1949 in Roseau at the Parsonage by Reverend Rykken. They attended Moe Lutheran Church. She lived in the Roseau/Warroad area her entire life.

Harriet worked at Northern Upholstery, and several years at the Roseau Hospital where she worked in the laundry department and helped clean areas of the hospital. She also enjoyed working/volunteering at the Roseau Four Seasons Senior Center.

Harriet was such a kind, caring, and spunky lady. She had a huge heart and would help anyone who needed it at any time. She was a member of the Four Seasons in Roseau and loved to volunteer by making donuts and lefse throughout the year. Her family was very important to her. She loved spending time with them. She enjoyed visitors and welcomed them with open arms. She always would have food or treats ready for whoever came.

Harriet loved every moment she spent at their cabin at Springsteel Island. Her and Orvel would ride on their golf cart and visit everyone around the resort. She loved to fish anything but northern. She enjoyed cleaning anything and everything and was very talented with embroidery by making several towels to share with family and friends. She loved square dancing and riding motorcycle with Orvel. She was an amazing cook – her potato dumplings, lefse, and tater tot hotdish were some of her family favorites. Her and Orvel were known for making several rounds of lefse and sharing to all. She loved her dog Ginger (Poopa). She would go everywhere with her. Harriet loved her family very much and loved spending time with her kids and all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Terry (Tammy) of Roseau, MN Gary (Rosann) of Thief River Falls, MN, Keith (Joanne) of Luck, WI, Mary (Danny) Ulrich of Clearbrook, MN, Patty (David) Simonson of Moorhead, MN, Greg (Tami) of Roseau, MN, Daughter-in-law Bobbi Gayle Radcliffe (Olson) of Roseau, MN, 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Ruth, Curly, and Beverly.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Orvel; her parents Knute & Hazel Knutson; her son Myron (Mike) Olson; sisters Mardell, and Judith; grandsons Chad, Ryan, and Corey; and granddaughter Danielle Kasprowicz.
