Harold "Bud" Lang

July 11, 1941 ~ April 17, 2021 (age 79)


Funeral services, following MN ST. Covid Guidelines, for Harold "Bud" Lang of Roseau will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 10 AM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Roseau (Stafford).  A visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with interment at Tivoli Cemetery in Mankato, MN at a later date.

Harold (Bud) Eugene Lang passed away at the age of 79 on April 17, 2021 at Lifecare Roseau Manor. 

Bud was born on July 11, 1941 in Mankato, MN to Harold M. and Esther Lang. After graduating from Mankato East High School in 1959, he attended Mankato State College, majoring in Education with an emphasis in Science and History. Bud received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1963. 

Bud married Diana Zaun in 1965; they had two children, Richard Evan and Mitchell Jay. In 1977, he married Elaine Peterson and they had two children; Harold Anthony (Tony) and Stephanie Marie.

Bud started his teaching career in North Dakota in 1964. The family moved to Roseau in 1968 where he taught Physical Science and Social Studies. Bud also helped coach baseball and wrestling during his time at Roseau High School. He retired from teaching in 2000 after being in the classroom for 36 years.  

Bud was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Stafford, serving on the Church Council. He was president of the Roseau Teachers Association. He was a Charter Member of the Roseau River Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association and held various officer positions within the organization. Bud also taught Adult Hunters Education classes.

Bud was an avid outdoorsman; hunting deer, upland birds, migratory birds, antelope and anything that swam in Lake of the Woods. He loved spending time at the family cabin at the Northwest Angle, “Deer Camp'' every November, and his hunting land “Esther’s Acres.”  Bud also went on many trips with his loving wife. He shared his love of the outdoors with his family and friends.

Harold (Bud) is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Dennis Thoreson. Bud is survived by his wife Elaine, and their four children: Richard (Trisha) Lang, Mitchell Lang, Harold “Tony” (Kelly) Lang, and Stephanie (Andrew) Pierce; grandchildren: Dawson Braaten, Brekka, Grayson and Brynna Lang, Taye Lang, Logan, Alexis and Grant Pierce;  sisters-in-laws Marilyn (Paul) Stenhjem and Karen (Roger) Miller; and several nieces.
