Grace Alene (Sonstegard) Martin

Grace Martin, a loving and devoted mother, passed away unexpectedly on November 13th at the age of 57, in Baudette, MN.

Grace was born on September 2nd, 1965, to John R. and Eleanor “Tiny” (Godin) Sonstegard in Baudette, MN.  Grace attended elementary and high school at Lake of the Woods and graduated in 1984.  Her easy nature and kind qualities allowed her to make many friends while growing up in Baudette.

Grace had a strong connection working with people and so she started working as a server at The Ranch House in Baudette while still in high school. She kept that career choice throughout her life working as a server for various restaurants and resorts in the Brainerd and Baudette areas through the years, with the most recent one being Cyrus Resort.

It is certain that Grace’s strongest love was that of being a mother to her children, Amber, Ashley, Andrew and Autumn, her stepchildren Lacey and Nikki, and a grandmother to her 8 grandchildren, Kayden, Jace, Kylie, Nolan, Ellie, Salem, Aiden, and Connor.

Grace is survived by her father John R. Sonstegard, brother John “Snoopy” Sonstegard (Robyn), daughter Amber Halverson (Dan Nelson), daughter Ashley Halverson (Brett Kline), son Andrew Lewis (Rayna Hasbargen), daughter Autumn Stiner (Tristin), stepdaughter Lacey Purcell and stepdaughter Nikki Martin and 3 nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor “Tiny” Sonstegard (Godin) and stepmother Patricia Sonstegard.

A Memorial Service for Grace Martin of Baudette will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Wabanica Lutheran Church in Baudette at 11:00am with a visitation an hour prior.
