Gerald “Jerry” Eugene Wellen of Badger passed away at the Warroad Senior Living Center on August 7, 2022, at the age of 76.
Jerry was born on November 30, 1945, to George and Ethel (Peterson) Wellen in Roseau, MN. He went to school at Badger High School and “The School of Hard Knocks”. After high school Jerry moved around doing painting, designing, and fiberglass. He worked at Polaris for 20+ years as a Senior Manager of Design Engineering and moved on to working for Premier Pontoon, Larson Glastron Boats, and M.I.C.I. Coatings where he eventually retired.
Jerry loved yardwork, NASCAR, anything hotrod, racing, and was known to roast a few tires and bang through some gears now and then. He was a very dedicated worker and was very generous to his family and friends. Jerry was a man of many talents and could “Jerry rig” anything. Jerry was ESPECIALLY proud of his mother.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Ethel; Sons, Terry (Sheri) Wellen of Roseau, Larry (Sharon) Wellen of Thief River Falls, and Travis (Cindy) Wellen of Fargo; Grandchildren, Laura (Brandon) Kasprowicz, Nathan (Tori) Wellen, Brittni (Josh) Davila, Joseph Wellen, Thomas Wellen; Great grandchildren, Taylor, Carter, Parker, Kyzer, Eli and Rawlie; Brothers, Earl Wellen and Loren (Jeannie) Wellen and sisters, Kathy (Myles) Alberg and Barb (Don) Burkel.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, George.

A Memorial Service for Jerry Wellen will be held at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 4:00pm with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will be held at Badger Creek following the service.
