Gary R. Lussier

Gary Richard Lussier age 44, “Makwa” (Bear) of the Bear Clan of Warroad, Minnesota began his journey on Friday, April 15, 2022, in Warroad, Minnesota.

Gary was born in Red Lake, Minnesota to Jeffery and Linda Lussier.  Gary was raised in Ponemah and graduated from Red Lake High School, where he enjoyed the competition in football and basketball.  

Gary enjoyed many things, which he was very passionate about, he loved to hunt, fish, beading, wood-burning, cruising with his wife, softball, golfing and playing pool.  Gary was very passionate in all he did, with his greatest passion being his children.

He said that each of his children had different parts of his personality. To sit in a room with all of his children feels as though he is there with you. He felt no greater happiness than when all of his kids were around him. 

He married Mellissa Lussier in 2021 at their home in front of close family and friends. They share a love that will now last her lifetime. 

Gary was currently working at Seven Clans Casino Warroad as a Blackjack Dealer.  He worked in a variety of positions and had a variety of titles.  The years that Gary had spent at the Casino were particularly memorable.

If there is one lesson we can take from his life, it is to love one another loud and proud. He was a remarkable man who will be truly missed.

Gary is survived by his wife, Mellissa Lussier; his children, Katelyn Barrett of Red Lake; Devin Lussier of Warroad; Savannah Lussier of Warroad; Madison Lussier of Warroad; Liberty Lussier of Roseau; Addy Lussier of Roseau; His grandchildren, Hayden, and Zakai; Mother, Linda Lussier, of Minneapolis; Sisters; Lisa (Arnold) Stately of Red Lake, Tammy Lussier of Minneapolis, and Karla Lussier of Warroad.

Visitation for Gary Richard Lussier of Warroad, MN will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN on Saturday, April 23, 2022.  The wake will begin Saturday at 4:00 pm and a Traditional Service at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 25, 2022, in Ponemah, MN.  Zac Earley will handle the services.  Burial will take place in the family plot.
