Frederic E. de Molee

Memorial services, following MN St. Covid Guidelines, for Fred de Molee of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Warroad Baptist Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior at the church, with Military Honors by the Warroad American Legion/ VFW immediately following the services.  Interment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Warroad.

Frederic Edgar de Molée was born to Edgar and Eleanor (Nelson) de Molée in Crookston, Minn on April 9th, 1955. He was raised on the family farm just southwest of Warroad. There he fell in love with the rural life taking care of the livestock and poultry. He immersed himself in the 4-H program garnering many awards at the Roseau County Fair. He graduated from Warroad High School in 1973. Following graduation, he attended the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Frederic and Vonda (Nash) began their journey together on December 1st 1990, and raised their children Antwan, Jonathon, Bryce, Kyle, Robert, and Krysta on the same land where Fred grew up himself, Elm Creek Farms.

Frederic retired from the United States Army after 20+ years of service with the 18th Airborne Corp and 367th Engineer Battalion. Fred deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a Combat Engineer attached to the 5th Special Forces Group (A) in Afghanistan. Fred earned multiple medals during his service and was proud that he raised the US flag for the first time at their combat outpost near Chamkani, Afghanistan.

Frederic enjoyed all aspects of literature especially those that focused on philosophy, history, and mysteries of the world. He had a beautiful mind that hungered for knowledge and loved conversations that challenged his thinking involving morality and the world’s religions. Finding comfort in nature, Fred loved watching life grow; the hatching of an egg or the budding of a flower would bring him pure joy. Fred cared deeply for many things in this world but the one he held above all else, his family. Fred cherished his family immensely, reminding them daily to love one another unconditionally.

Frederic is preceded in death by his son Kyle Richard de Molée, and his parents Edgar and Eleanor; his uncles, Richard (Evelyn), Thorsten, and Robert Nelson; his aunts, Esther Cummings and Florence Moody, cousins and his father-in-law Vernon Nash.

Frederic is survived by his wife Vonda, and his children Antwan (Nicole), Jonathon, Bryce, Robert, and Krysta; his grandchildren Charles Peterson and Jazmine de Molée; his Brother Daniel (Laurel), cousins, his mother-in-law Marie Nash; sister-in-law Yvette (Lyle) Johnson, brother-in-law Bradley (Michelle) Nash, and Mitchell Nash, and various nieces and nephews.
