Ernest E Dubois

Ernest Dubois of Warroad passed away at his home on January 26, 2023 at the age of 84.

Ernest Elzair Dubois was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada on July 27, 1938 to Ernest and Mary (Cimmerer) Dubois. He went to Bell School in St. Claude, Manitoba, Canada and in February 18, 1961 he married Colleen MacDonald (passed away August 1, 2010) in Fort William, Ontario, Canada. Later on, he married Judy (Hill) Hordesky on October 26, 1974 in Canada. Ernest was a signal maintainer for the Canadian National Railway for 38+ years and was named a top-rated signal maintainer in the Prairie Division as well as won various safety awards. He also was the Regional Treasurer of the A.B.A.T.E. (American Bikers Aiming Towards Education).

Ernest loved to go hunting for moose, deer, and ducks, cross-country trips on his Harley, fishing, camping with family and friends, metal detecting and searching for arrowheads, panning for gold, reading about various cultural histories, and building and shooting a variety of guns. Above all, he LOVED being with his family and was especially proud of raising his kids and of his grandchildren's accomplishments.  Ernie was a "one-of-a-kind" person who was truly a kind, considerate, protective, and loving "teddy bear".

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Mary Dubois of St. Claude, Manitoba, Canada; former spouse, Collen Brey of Grand Rapids, Manitoba; father and mother-in-law, Ben and Elsie Hill of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; sister, Gwendolyn (Jaine) Berger of Westlock, Alberta; brother, Philip Dubois of St. Claude, Manitoba; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Dubois of Spavinaw, OK.

Ernest is Survived by his wife, Judy Dubois of Warroad, MN; sons, Rick (Denise; Matt, Megan) Dubois of Hudson, WI, Darryl (Brandon, Devin) Dubois of Warroad; daughters, Valorie (Terry Skalsky; Storm) Dubois of Grantsburg, WI, Sherry (Bradd; Alec and Athena Hagman, Jakob) of Crystal, MN; siblings, Elmer Dubois of Edson, Alberta, and Evelyn Kaminski of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; great-granddaughter, Kloey of Roseau, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Ernest Dubois of Warroad, MN will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
