Ellie Hecker

Martha Elenor ‘Ellie’ Hecker, age 91, of Dilworth, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 25. She was born in Winner, MN, on February 11, 1932, to Christian and Elsie (Fischer) Hecker. Ellie was raised in the Warroad area and attended a country school there. She developed her long-lasting love for horses and cats while living on the family farm.

In her early years, she loved to travel. Ellie found jobs and made new friends in several different states. Eventually, she moved back to Warroad to care for her mother. She was employed by Marvin where she worked until her retirement. Ellie enjoyed socializing with friends at the restaurants and casino.

After a car accident in 2018 that left her unable to care for herself, Ellie joined the loving community of Serenity Assisted Living & Memory Care in Dilworth until the time of her death. This move allowed her to be near her sister and family.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Herb, Bob, Bruno and Albert; two sisters, Gertie and Dorothy; two half-brothers, Walter and Bill; and one half-sister, Pauline.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Ellie Hecker will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 1:00PM at Helgeson Funeral home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Falun Cemetery.
