On a cold winter’s day on March 31, 1922, a Baby Girl was born to Jacob and Emma (Stoe) Scharf, and she was named Eleanor Marie. She grew up on the family farm near Badger and when she was 6 years old, she started school at District 6 and graduated from Badger High School in 1940. Eleanor was active in 4-H as a youth, demonstrating and exhibiting sheep, bake goods and canned goods at the County Fair and winning many ribbons. In the fall of 1940, she enrolled in Teacher Training and graduated in May of 1941 and earned a degree from Bemidji State College in Elementary Education. Her teaching career began at District 1 near Badger/Greenbush, teaching there from 1941-1943. Then, it was on to District 54 in Greenbush from 1943-1945. Next, she taught in Fox from 1945-1947.  Lastly, she taught in Swift from 1947-1958.

On June 1, 1951, Eleanor married Chester Snow in Badger. They built a house in 1951, while living on the farm in Falun Township. She continued to teach until 1958, all the while she was milking cows, keeping house, tending to her garden, and raising turkeys and beef cattle.

Eleanor was a member of the Pine Grove Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and Circle, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and held offices on the Church Council. She was also a member of the Falun Homemakers Club and the Green Thumb Garden Club. She loved tending to her flowers. Eleanor also served as secretary/treasurer and sexton of the Falun Cemetery Association for 5O years.
