Obituary
A Funeral Service for Einar S. Bakken of Roseau, MN will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 2:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will take place at Malung Cemetery. Military rites provided by the Roseau Memorial Honor Guard.
Einar Bakken died May 13th, 2023 at the age of 94 at Roseau Life Care Medical Center after a brief illness. Einar was born to Sig and Anna (Smedsmo) Bakken in Spruce Township on September 4, 1928. He attended grade school there and earned his GED and high school diploma while in the Army from 1954 to 1956. He and Marlene Lisell were married on June 7, 1957. Most of his employment years were the 37 years he worked for Polaris. He was an American Legion member, and served with the honor guard for 19 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, blueberry picking, and the cabin at Birch Beach.
He is survived by his wife Marlene, son Kent, daughters Sheri (Tony) Groenhoff and Carla Larson, grandson Logan Groenhoff, granddaughter Morgan Groenhoff, and sisters Alma Stotts, Sonja Heyen, and Anita (Ray) Dunham.
Einar was preceded in death by his parents, brother Torris Bakken, and sisters Sadie Dunham and Thelma Olson.
