Duane Comstock was born February 27, 1932 to Clifford and Grace (O’Donnell) Comstock at the homestead in Falun.
Duane worked on the farm and in the woods most of his life. He attended school in Roseau & at Northwest School of Agriculture Crookston, MN. Served in the Air Force with is friend Bob Nyland. Duane was married to Shirley Clausen from this marriage his only son Daniel was born. He married DeEtta Thortsen July 1, 1967 they spent many years together until her passing in 2009.
Duane had many accomplishments over the years but rarely spoke of them. Instrumental in the founding of the Warroad and Roseau Eagles Clubs and lifetime member of the Legion. He wore many hats from snowmobile racing/mechanic to farming and woodsman he could tell stories like no other about simpler times and hard work. The winters were spent in the woods at the cabin. As it made for a great place for all the friends and family to gather. Spring was time to run the sawmill to cut the big timbers from winter logging many of us have fond memories of the mill. Summers were filled with grain farming, hay cutting, and taking the “Warroad Warbler” boat out fishing.
Duane is survived by his son Daniel (Sandra) Comstock. Step children Rondalyn (Gene) Meyer and Wayne Pieper. Grandchildren Bryan (Diana) Pieper, Traci (Jeradan) Otto, Clifford (Cassie) Comstock. Daughter in law Denise Comstock. Five great grandchildren. Six step grand children and three step great grand children. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brother in law Dale (Linda) Thortsen.
Proceed to death by wife DeEtta, parents Clifford and Grace, siblings Shirley, Marvel, Jack, Pat, and Janice. Nephew Jamie Jeffrey. Grandson Derek Pieper.
