Douglas L Cole

 A Funeral Service for Douglas Cole of Roseau (Reine Township) will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Grove Lutheran Church of Roseau.  Visitation will be on Friday at Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau from 5-7 p.m. and also one hour prior to services on Saturday.  Burial will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery.

Douglas LeRoy Cole passed away on October 5, 2021 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. He was 81 years old.

Doug Cole was born November 15, 1939 in Reine Township of Roseau County, MN to Roland and Sarah (Lewis) Cole.  He attended elementary school at Winner and high school at Roseau, graduating from Roseau High School in 1959. 

On December 31, 1987 Doug married Jean Simons at Bethesda Lutheran Church.

Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing for walleye, playing cards, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and  growing & canning vegetables and four-wheeling. He loved lefse, lutefisk, and potato dumplings and enjoyed making blueberry and carrot pies and dandelion wine. He and Jean raised pigs and chickens, at times having 200 pigs to take care of – they called their business D & J Pork.  Doug loved his dog, Buddy and was very generous and helpful to his neighbors. He would plow snow for them and mow their lawns.

He is survived by his children, David (Jeanna) Cole of Huntsville, AL, Radie (Kelly) Simons of Belcourt, ND, Deanna Stole of Moorhead, MN, Steven Kaczor (LeighAnne) of Wannaska, MN, Derrick Cole of Moorhead, MN, Lucas (Tanya) Kaczor of Audubon, MN and Christy (Britta) Cole of Roseau; siblings Monetta Reed of Warroad, MN, Ettie Hultgren of Kennedy and Bonnie Sanford of Cloquet, MN; grandchildren Sebastian, Alexavier, Yollianna, Heather, Mathew, Richard, Brighton, Justin, Prestin, Jordan, Seth, Brayden, Patience, and Colten. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Clara; and granddaughter Elisha.

Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Roseau has charge of the arrangements.
