A Funeral Service for Donald Wayne Shaugabay will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 2:00PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 5-7PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Warroad, MN. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Warroad, MN. 

Donald Shaugabay of Warroad, MN passed away on May 2, 2024 in Roseau, MN.

Donald Wayne Shaugabay was born on July 14, 1952 in Warroad to Richard and Frances Shaugabay (Bellanger). He attended Warroad High School and began to work at Marvin Windows and Doors. Donald married Phyllis Copenace in Roseau on September 28, 1974. In October of 1975 they had a daughter, Lynn Marie Shaugabay. When the Casino opened in Warroad he started to work there as a security guard and retired in 2018. During his many years at the casino, he received many employees of the month awards.

He was passionate about muscle cars, he received an award from a car club for his 1985 Monte Carlo. He also loved football, hockey, and baseball. He loved Warroad Hockey, the Minnesota Wild, Vikings, and Twins. Donald also enjoyed raking, taking care of his lawn, wrestling, and tinkering with cars. He always gave out candy on Halloween and snuck snacks and treats to his nieces and nephews.

Donald is survived by his brother Gerald (Zeb) Shaugabay of White Earth, MN ; sister Christine Hamlin Shaugabay of Warroad, MN; sister-in-law Janice Shaugabay; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 15 year old daughter Lynn Shaugabay; father and mother Richard and Frances; brothers Richard (Tuney) Shaugabay, Marvin (Feen) Shaugabay, William (Bill) Shaugabay; sisters Margaret (Peggy) Angus and Evonne Lane; brother-in-law, Rodney Keith Hamlin; sisters-in-law, Mary Shaugabay, Mary Sue Shaugabay.
