Donald Wayne Erickson

Donald Wayne Erickson passed away at home August 9, 2022 at the age of 69.  He was born in St Paul, Minnesota October 26, 1952 to Donald Leroy Erickson and Jeanette Irene (Welin) Erickson.

His parents were from Roseau, MN farming families who had immigrated from Sweden and Norway.   Don grew up in Roseau, a small town with strong roots and extended family near.

Don excelled academically and participated in many activities at Roseau High School.  In football, wrestling, photographer for the school paper, Distributive Education and he worked part time at the Farmer's Union and Red Owl Grocery.  Don was awarded a National Merit Scholarship.  He attended Massachusetts Institute of Technololgy majoring in Electrical Engineering. His interest was in computers. Don went to work as a programmer and was transferred to Houston, TX, where he finished his degree at the University of Houston. He worked for Ford Aerospace at NASA in support of the space shuttle.  Don has worked for many companies, including at Mead Data Central, IBM, and Dell Computer.

While at M.I.T., he joined the Baha'i Faith.  He has spent his life in service to his faith.  In keeping with the Baha'i principals of unity of God, religion, and mankind, Don has supported efforts to eliminate all forms of prejudice and discrimination, while celebrating cultural diversity. 

Don married Teresa (Terry) in 1993. They made up for lost time, traveling as often as their work schedules allowed.

Don is survived by his wife Terry, his nephew Joshua (Ashley) Truckey and their two children.

Don is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents Donald and Jeanette Irene Erickson, brothers Stephan and David, and sister Kelly. 

A remembrance gathering will held Sunday 2pm at the Event Center at 208 15th Ave. NE, Roseau, MN

We are honored and thankful for Round Rock Hope Well Cemetery board's gift of Don's burial plot recognizing his steadfast support of ending racism.

A remembrance gathering will held Sunday 8/14 at 6pm at the Round Rock Baha'i Center. 

A graveside service will be Monday 8/15 at Hopwell Cemetery, Round Rock, TX.
