Derek L. Hulst

A Celebration of Life will take place for Derek Hulst of Roseau on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. 

Derek LeRoy Hulst passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 1, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND at the age of 43.

Derek was born in Roseau, MN on June 5, 1976 to Wendell and Joslyn (Hulst) Krzoska. He attended in Roseau and graduated from Roseau High School in 1995, where he lettered in wrestling. 

He worked at REM Roseau in high school and after high school, he worked at Handy Farms in Thief River Falls, MN. He moved to Aberdeen, SD and worked at Industrial Fans. He moved back to Roseau in 2000 and worked at Heatmor Inc in Warroad. He bartended at Ruggie’s in Roseau and cooked at Lee's Place. He had the biggest smile and heart. He loved his two godson's, Jaxon and Sheldon. He loved to fish, hunt, cook, and play pool (winning many tournaments). He loved making bow-ties out of dollar bills for the kids. He enjoyed playing cribbage and other games, especially with his mom, dad, and Benny.  One of his favorite holidays was the 4th of July… he loved the fireworks!

He's survived by his mother and father, Wendell and Joslyn (Hulst) Krzoska of Warroad; aunt, Janet Hulst, uncle, Jeff (Sally) Hulst, uncle, Rock (Mickey) Hulst, aunt, Donna (Krzoska) Baren and many cousins.

He's proceeded in death by his grandpa and grandma Clarence and Marlys Hulst; aunt, Grace Qualey; grandma, Caroline Krzoska; grandpa, Andrew Jr Krzoska; great-grandma, Rose Hulst and great- grandma, Genevieve Moser.
