A funeral service for Dennis L. Breiland will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Riverside Lutheran Church, Wannaska, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Palmville Cemetery.

Dennis Luverne Breiland, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls, MN.

Dennis was born in Roseau, MN, on June 7, 1940, to Inez (Butzler) and Olaus Breiland. He was the youngest of three boys. Dennis graduated from the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston, MN. Later in life he attended Northland Community and Technical College, graduating with a Diploma of Occupational Proficiency in Farm Business Management in June 2002. Dennis served in the U.S. Army from February 1960 to February 1966, spending time stationed in Germany and making a brief appearance in the movie “The Longest Day,” released in 1962, starring John Wayne.

Following his honorable discharge, Dennis returned to his beloved family farm in Wannaska, MN, where he raised livestock and grain crops. In 1979 Dennis and his brothers started the Breiland Brothers Baler Service, also known as Vermeer Agriculture Equipment until his retirement in November 2012, when he sold his business.

Dennis met the love of his life, Ruth (Foss) Breiland, in 1990 and married her on March 31, 2002. Together they continued to build the Baler Service’s success and enjoyed traveling to many fun destinations as a top sales company. Dennis and Ruth enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends, other farmers, and spending time with their family.

Dennis is survived by his wife. Ruth Breiland, of International Falls; and her children Pamela Curtis, Robert (Lori) Foss, Saundra (Sandy) Dexter, Richard (Kris) Foss, all of International Falls; grandchildren, Stacy Hurd, Derek (Ashley) Foss, Katrinna Dexter, Shane (Kourtney) Dexter, Madison Foss, Brittany (Chase) Bernard, Hayden Foss; great-grandchildren, Simon Hurd, Brody Foss, Axel Dexter, Otto Dexter, Boone Foss, and Beckitt Bernard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Merle Breiland and Maynard Breiland.
