David A. Foss

A Funeral Service for David A. Foss of Greenbush, MN will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 11:00AM at Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona, MN. Visitation will be held from 9-11AM at the church. Interment will take place at East Bethlehem Cemetery in Greenbush, MN. 

David Allan Foss was born November 17, 1948 in Thief River Falls, MN to the late Thilmer and Agnette (Elton) Foss. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Greenbush. After graduating high school, he was drafted into the military. Once he returned back to the states, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kukowski on September 7, 1974 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush, MN. 

David enjoyed life to the fullest being a teenager at heart, regardless of what his driver’s license said. He loved to go and spend winters up at Lake of the Woods every weekend to fish and “campaign” with all the people on the ice to see how the fishing was. He raced snowmobiles, demolition derbies, was involved in tractor pulls, was very creative in his shop building anything from rock pickers to scrapers and even track machines. His biggest passion was hot rods. With his great group of friends, there weren't many car shows they missed. He enjoyed having his hot rod garage in Strathcona inviting anyone and everyone in, for a visit about hot rods and to have a special treat (rootbeer floats). Parades were always fun for him to go to. Troy would come up with some ideas for a float and David would jump right in to help, however, David wouldn’t drive in the parade. He would rather sit and watch all the floats go by and catch tootsie rolls. David was always one to give out a hug or a firm handshake. He cared about everyone and would lend a hand, whether you needed one or not, except when it came to working with wood. He could never find a straight piece of wood, but he said metal was always straight. When it came to his grandkids, he was an “uber” driver, teacher, supporter, and would make grandpa’s famous waffles and bacon, or his special turkey steak, pork roast with mashed potatoes. 

David is survived by his kids Crystal (Lance) Peterson of Bemidji, MN and Troy (Jess) Foss of Greenbush, MN; grandkids: Wyatt and Westin Peterson and Will and Amity Foss; numerous brothers-in-law, sister-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends he considered family. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, parents Thilmer and Agnette, brothers Jon and Dale, sisters-in-law Henryka Evans and Dianne Kukowski, brothers-in-law Bruce Evans, and Willie, Romain, and Marshall Kukowski.
