A Celebration of Life for Cynthia Prothero of Angle Inlet, MN will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Lukes Church at the Angle.
Cynthia “Cindy” “Sis” Prothero passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023 at Sanford Health in Fargo with two of her nieces at her side. Cindy was born in Warroad, Minnesota on February 16, 1953 to Clair and Elvina (Steele) Knight. She moved with her family to Washington state before moving back to Warroad a few years later, where she lived until she was 35. While living in Warroad, Cindy graduated from Warroad High School in 1972 and then worked at Marvin Windows for 18 years. She babysat her nieces and nephews and other children too and helped her mom bake and sew.
Cindy married the love of her life, Tim Prothero on April 9, 1988 and they celebrated 34 years together before Tim passed away on April 12, 2022. After they were married Tim and Cindy made their home at the Northwest Angle and helped clean cabins at Prothero’s post, the family’s resort. She also worked as a Teacher’s Aid and cleaned at the Angle School for many years. Over the years, she became close friends with many of the guests that stayed at Prothero's Post. She also enjoyed many game nights over the years with family and friends and never missed Sit and Sew with her women friends each week.
Cindy did not have any children of her own except for her puppies over the years, but she was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and a special friend to the school and neighborhood children over the years. She made a baby quilt and stuffed Scrapasaurus’s for every child in her life too!
After Tim passed away, she moved to an apartment in Roseau, Minnesota where she lived until the time of her death.
Cindy is survived by her brother, William (Linda) Knight, Angle Inlet, MN and brother Dan (Julie) Knight Warroad, MN, 11 nieces and nephews, Numerous great niece and nephews and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clair and Elvina Knight, brothers, Jay and Harlan Knight and one infant brother.
