Cynthia McDougall

Funeral services for Cynthia McDougall of Baudette will be held on Monday, July 29, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lake of the Woods high school gym in Baudette. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Cynthia McDougall passed away on Monday, July 22, at the age of 42. 

The family of Cindi McDougall is deeply saddened by the tragedy that abruptly took her life on July 22, 2019.

Cindi was born in Thief River Falls, MN on October 30, 1976 to Daniel and Nancy (Pikop) Brouse.   She was raised in Newfolden, MN until moving to Baudette in 1988.  Following her graduation from Lake of the Woods High School in 1995, Cindi enrolled in Northland Community College in Thief River Falls where she received her degree in cosmetology in 1997.  She then returned to Baudette and joined her mother at Nancy’s Beauty Shop.

On Cindi’s birthday in 2000, she met the love of her life.  She and David McDougall were married on October 19, 2002.  Six years later they welcomed their son Jonah Lloyd into the world on October 30, and as noted by Dave, “Cindi always gets the best presents on her birthday.

For Cindi, the most important aspect of her life was family.  She would load up her van with Jonah and his cousins and take them on adventures, perhaps a day of sledding or going to the park or sometimes a trip to Thunder Bay or to the Sudan Mine.  She loved fishing with Dave and Jonah; she outdid herself hosting family holidays and reunions and at the same time making lasting memories for all the kids.  Each year she made an album showcasing these family activities and adventures.  Even in the whirlwind of family and her business, she found time for gardening and bird watching with her special friend Jenny Moorman.  She never said “no” to helping with community and school activities.

In 2017, Cindi started working in the District Office of the Lake of the Woods School Board.  She loved working with all of the staff there and, most of all, loved to be able to keep a close watch over all of “her” kids.  Cindi lived life fully, making the most of her time on earth.  She is now reunited with her dad and her Eternal Father. 

Cindi was preceded in death by her father Daniel Brouse; father-in-law Dennis McDougall; grandparents Marvin and Lucille Pikop, Sid and Ida Brouse, and Katie Pentney; Aunt Marilyn Bannerman; Aunt Connie Lane, Uncle James Pribula; and cousin Sean Dargus.

She is survived by her husband Dave McDougall, son Jonah McDougall, mother Nancy Brouse, mother-in-law Jerri McDougall, brother Tony (Jenny) Brouse; nephews Zack and Carson; special cousins Carter, Emma, Adisyn, Cooper, Christian (Ashley) Olson; George (Molly) Olson; and her many other Brouse and Pikop family aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She also leaves behind her many friends.  You were all so special to her.  Cindi will forever be in our hearts and will always be missed.  She has enriched our lives beyond measure.
