Curtis Lee Skrutvold passed away on April 15, 2025 at LifeCare Roseau Manor at the age of 99. Curtis Lee Skrutvold, son of Almer and Cordelia (Lee) Skrutvold was born February 1, 1926 in Roseau, MN. He attended and graduated from Roseau High School in 1944.
Curtis had the full responsibility of taking over the farm after his father's death in 1945. In 1957 as a young and progressive farmer he was given an award for his farming methods, his determination to improving all lands and facilities under his direction, and good general farm management. He had recently completed a new single story barn, improved his dairy herd, installed a complete bulk milk tank system, was constantly seeking to do better and utilize more productive farming and became a Grade A milk producer. He retired from dairy farming in 1975 but continued to farm the land until 1995.
Curtis married Gloria Jean Paulson on July 18, 1959 at Bethel Lutheran Church, Greenbush, MN. They raised two wonderful children, Kris and Jean. He was a confirmed member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, where he served on the church council and property committee, and was always willing to help in any way he could.
Over the years Curtis served as a board member for Farmers Elevator, Land O'Lakes Creamery, Farmers Home Administration, Soil & Water Conservation District, Jadis Township and Four Seasons Senior Center. He was a member of the Roseau Lions and Northland Gun Range Club for several years.
During retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and sharing the produce, as well as picking blueberries. One of his greatest joys was taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing and playing cards with them. He liked to walk for exercise, have coffee with his buddies at Cenex, Holiday and Nelson's Cafe. While traveling during the winter, Curtis enjoyed playing shuffleboard, golf, cards and dancing.
Curtis loved God and his family dearly. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a very special man, loved by many, and touched many lives during his 99 yrs.
