Craig Bakken Obituary

A Funeral Service for Craig M. Bakken of Roseau, MN will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Penturen Church in Beltrami Island State Forest at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN from 5-7PM.

Craig Bakken was born on September 20th, 1959 in Roseau Minnesota to Barbara Knochenmus and Torris Bakken. 

 He attend Roseau High School and graduated in 1978. While attending he was a baseball pitcher and football player. 

 He married Beth Appelbaum on April 26, 1986. They had two children Jackie Bakken and Brittany Bakken. He worked at Polaris Industries and after that he worked in the construction field. This brought him to work at both Grand Forks & Minot Air Force bases. He lived in Louisiana for quite a few years doing varies construction jobs. 

 He was an avid hunter of whitetail deer in Beltrami Forest. He loved looking for deer sheds and finding the big bucks! He spent a lot of time hunting & in the woods with Lance Novacek. His kids, grandkids, friends and family would all come to deer camp during deer season. He loved to tell deer hunting stories and how he would shoot the Biggest buck. If you were driving through the woods you would probably run into Craig. He raised and showed quarter horses throughout the United States and Canada which lead him to win many grand championship trophies. 

 Craig is survived by his daughters Jackie Bakken of Fargo ND, Brittany (Brett) of Eveleth MN. Mother Barb Bakken of Roseau. Brother Jeff Bakken of Roseau. Grand kids Asher, Harlow and Sawyer of Eveleth. 

 Craig is proceeded in death by his father Torris Bakken, Paternal grandparent Sig & Anna Bakken, Maturnal grandparents Frank & Edna Knochenmus and many aunts & uncles.
