Chansouda Rattanvong Obituary

A Funeral service for Chansouda Rattanvong will be held Thursday, July 2, 12PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN.  There will be a visitation at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 6-8PM.

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Chansouda Rattanavong, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and best friend to many.  She had a short stay at Solvay Hospice, but her incredible strength and determination brought her home where she wanted to be. She passed away peacefully at home, on June 26, 2026, at 7 p.m., surrounded by loved ones after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Her independence, determination, and incredible strength to fight to the end did not go unnoticed.

Souda was born on September 15, 1986, in Atlanta, Georgia, and relocated to Warroad, MN, at 12 years old, where the beginning of her teenage years flourished with a community of people who became her lifelong friends and extended family.

Souda graduated with honors from Warroad High School in 2004, and continued her education at Rasmussen University, earning her bachelor’s degree in Digital Marketing. She began her professional journey at Polaris, where she started as an assembly operator and rose to the role of a project analyst. She was just recently awarded her 15 years of employment with Polaris while in hospice and was able to celebrate before her passing. She was the true definition of hard work and dedication, even working during her chemo treatments and to the very end.

Souda was known for her ability to light up any room with her infectious smile. Ms. independent, queen of karaoke, and life of the party, Souda’s life was filled with love, kindness, and laughter. She was funny, charismatic, and always knew how to make people smile with a joke. She loved karaoke nights with her girls, and showing off her beautiful voice. She was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan who never missed a game and celebrated every win. She also was a big fan her C-drama shows, and even took a class to learn Chinese.

Souda loved outdoor activities like fishing, camping, bonfires, and family barbecues. She cherished every trip she took with her son, family, and best friends. She was so easy to love and be around; she had many groups of friends and made friends everywhere she went. These memories will be treasured forever.

Souda was a spiritual person, a proud supporter of the Lao community, always participating in every temple service, giving alms, and donating her time. She was very open-minded and also accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior before her passing. Souda’s compassionate spirit, always ready to help and give without judgment, was a reflection of the beautiful person she was. She loved unconditionally and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a love that will never be forgotten.

Above all, Souda was a devoted mother to Micah, who was the center of her world. She dedicated her life to loving, protecting, and supporting him, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her son. Her family was her greatest pride, and she embraced every opportunity to care for them.

To Micah, your mom’s love for you was endless, and that love will always live on. Please know that you will never have to face life alone. The friends and family who loved your mom will always be here for you, cheering you on, supporting you, and reminding you of the incredible woman who raised you. You will always have people in your corner. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out to your many aunties.

Souda was the cherished daughter of Khamsy Bouakham. She is survived by her devoted son Micah, her greatest joy. She is also survived by her loving mother, Khamsy, and her caring brother, Robert, and many dear friends and extended family whose lives she touched.

A service celebrating Chansouda's life will be held on July 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Helgeson Funeral Chapels, located at 1207 3rd St NE, Roseau, MN 56751. Her family invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring her remarkable journey and the love she shared.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Mayo Clinic staff, HIA Hospice staff, and Solvay Hospice staff for their compassionate care, as well as to the many friends, family, and community members who provided unwavering support during this difficult time. Though you are no longer with us, your love will continue to guide us. Watch over us from heaven, our beautiful angel. You will be forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
