A Celebration of life for Bruce I. Monsrud will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at 5:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Bruce Ian Monsrud was born on April 3, 1952 in Roseau, MN to Arnold and Teresa (Rebarchek) Monsrud. He grew up in Roseau and graduated from Roseau High School in 1970 before continuing his education at Alexandria Technical College for construction. He moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area and settled North of West Fargo. In November of 1981 Bruce married the love of his life Martha Reed. After experiencing a fall while working construction Bruce worked for Scheels Hardware, he then moved back to Roseau, MN in 1994 and began working at Ace Hardware until his retirement on April 3, 2014.
Bruce loved antique snowmobiles, he was a member of the VSCA and ASCA and enjoyed attending snowmobile shows. Bruce had many hobbies such as woodworking, taking pictures of nature, ranger rides looking for Bambis with Linky, watching the news and his old western shows and Batman & Robin, Superman, and Wonderwoman on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and spending time as an inmate of Facebook Jail. Burce also enjoyed being a chauffeur to Martie, most of all he loved spending time with his family especially the grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Monsrud; father and mother-in-law, George and Mertrice Reed; brother-in-law, Harley Reed; special cousin, Iden Magnusson; special friends, Bernie Anderson and Kevin Lehse as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Martha “Martie” Monsrud; children, Heather (Joe) Worth, Brian (Sarah) Monsrud, Allen (Shyann) Monsrud; grandchildren, Meghan Matherly, Collin Monsrud, Shana Monsrud and Tessa Matherly; brother, Dale (Linda) Monsrud; brother and sister in-laws, Dorothy Monsrud, Gerry (LaRae Roseen) Reed, Ellyn (Roger) Falk, Kaye (Alvin) Larsen, Lynden (Bernie) Reed; special sons, Darrell Poirier, Tony Siats, Kendall Majer and Alex Anderson
