Bradley Olson Obituary

Bradley Allen Olson passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 65. Brad was born to Leland and Leona Olson on February 19, 1959 in International Falls, MN. His family moved from International Falls to Skime, MN in 1967. Brad attended Grygla High School and graduated in 1977.

Brad began logging in the local area with his brothers and together they built their family log home in Skime. For several years after, he was employed by Marvin Windows while running skidder and logging on the side. In the 1980’s he began working for another logging outfit out of Grand Marais, MN where he enjoyed his time staying with the Korpi family. In 1982, Brad spent time helping his brother Lorne build a large log home in Winter Park, Colorado. Shortly after returning home, he began logging by the Red River where his interest in catfishing was sparked. In the mid 1980’s Brad moved to Kansas where he built airplanes for Boeing Airlines and was later transferred to the Boeing facility in Washington State. Here, Brad received awards and acknowledgement for his hard work while at the company. Brad returned home and dedicated 32 years to working at Polaris as a welder, retiring in 2021.

Brad started dating his wife, Marci, in 2003 and they combined their lives together at their country home located between Badger and Roseau for over 20 years. They welcomed the birth of their son Cody in 2004. Brad and Marci were officially united in marriage on June 20, 2014. Brad passed along his enjoyment for hunting and fishing to his sons and anyone else interested in giving it a try. Brad’s love of hunting resulted in many trips to Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and even Quebec. He especially enjoyed his mule deer and elk hunting trips out west with family and friends. In the winter, Brad enjoyed ice fishing in the Ice Castle on Lake of the Woods with Marci and family. In the summer, if he wasn’t planting food plots, you could find Brad relaxing and visiting with his Balm Lake friends. During the fall, one was most likely to find Brad enjoying time with family and friends at his cabin in Skime. Brad also enjoyed teaching his grandchildren and children how to drive four wheeler, track and process deer, fish, and shoot guns. You could often catch Brad playing dice and cards late into the evening or showing off his moves on the dance floor and of course driving around on his big green tractor while tending to food plots.

Though Brad racked up his share of hunting trophies and tales over the years, he got the most enjoyment from helping others have successful hunts at his place and hosting family and friends. Brad was a shining light of generosity and always willing to give a helping hand with no questions asked. He had a way of lightening up the mood in any room with a quick joke or his whole-hearted laugh. Brad will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.

Brad is survived by his wife Marci Olson; sons Cody Olson, Merlin Goodwin, Bill Goodwin, and Luther (Mikaela) Goodwin; grandchildren Deakan and Delena Goodwin; siblings Lorne (Shelia) Olson, Dan (Deb) Olson, Nadine Olson, Lori Olson, and Brian K. Olson; nieces and nephews Donna Olson, Matthew Stotts, Ryan (Jessica) Stotts, Kimberly (Matt) Ford, and Steven (Samantha) Olson; great-nieces and nephews Jerzey Loewe, Bristol Olson, Derek Olson, Connor Ford, Allie Ford, Ava Stotts, Carsyn Stotts, Xander Stotts, and Lilah Stotts, and close friend Dale Knutson.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents Leona Otto and Leland Olson; grandparents Bill Osse, Gladys Osse, Odin Olson, and Ida Olson; uncles and aunts Jerome and Elaine Schwartz, Luella Shoberg, and Gerold Osse; cousins Delray Schwartz, Jerry Schwartz, Juillian Kittelson and William Holter; nephew Derek Lee Olson, and close friends Orris and Nina Rosendahl and Gene Korpi.
