Bonnie LaVonne Hokanson, 78, of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Augustana Care Center near her home after battling Scleroderma for over two decades.
Bonnie was born on January 14, 1943, in Warroad, MN, to Alvin and Rhoda Hokanson. After high school she attended college in St. Cloud and earned a Library of Science degree in 1966. She made the decision to become a flight attendant and completed that training and was in the skies by 1967. She devoted 40 years to this career as the airline changed from North Central to Republic, to Northwest, and finally Delta. She enabled her parents to travel extensively and later shared her homes in MN and AZ with her mother. Near the end of her career she flew internationally. She retired in 2007. Bonnie enjoyed many hobbies as a retiree. While wintering in Arizona she enjoyed working with stained glass, ceramics, lapidary, and fused glass. She created an extensive collection of scrap books and albums of her travels and family. Bonnie loved hummingbirds and collected items that featured them. From the Southwest she also collected figures of the Pueblo Kachina dolls and Pueblo Storytellers.
Bonnie is survived by her brother Gary, his wife Barb, and her five nephews, their families, and numerous cousins.
Bonnie's funeral and burial will be combined with her mother Rhoda's. A visitation will be held at Helgeson's Funeral Chapel in Warroad at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 29. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Warroad followed by burial and lunch.
