Bonnie A. Grund

A Funeral Service for Bonnie A. Grund of Williams, MN will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Pitt Community Church in Pitt, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Pitt Cemetery in Pitt, MN. 

Bonnie Arlene (Hooper) Grund passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 7, 2022 at the age of 81. She was born August 28, 1940 to George Milton Hooper and Ruth Larson Hooper Aery at her home in Pitt, MN.

Bonnie attended Pitt School through 3rd grade after which time her family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where they lived for 2 years. After 5th grade they moved to Willits, California where they resided for 1 year when she and her family moved back to Bonnie’s forever home in Pitt, Minnesota. Bonnie left high school when she married the love of her life, Gary Grund, on December 10, 1955 in Baudette, Minnesota. She went on to receive her GED in 1974 and completed a degree/certificate in dress and clothing design through correspondence in her spare time. Bonnie and Gary raised their kids at their home in Pitt where they lived for 50 years. After Gary's passing Bonnie lived in Baudette for a short time before moving to Williams in 2018 to live with her daughter Terri and Terri's husband Kenny.

In 1989 Bonnie took over the Pitt mail route. She retired 29 years later in 2018. This ended an 80 year stint of Grund family members hauling the rural Pitt mail.

Sewing and design was always a passion for Bonnie. It started when she was a very little girl playing with paper dolls and cutting out clothing from Sears catalogs for clothing design options. Eventually she opened “The Sewing Room” and did alterations of all kinds. Even after the store closed, she continued doing alterations as a side job. Bonnie also had a passion for writing and even had her story “Icicles” published in the magazine Mature Living in December 1999. She was a devoted member of Pitt Community church for 58 years in which time she was an active member of the Pitt Ladies Aid, and she served on the church board as secretary and/or treasurer for many of those years. Bonnie also very much loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, and taking care of her flowers.

Bonnie is survived by her daughters; Cindy (Myles) Robinson, St. Thomas, ND, Yvonne (Lee) Hancock, Baudette, MN, and Terri (Kenny) Thompson, Williams, MN; 12 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many, many friends and extended family members.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Gary of 61 years (date of death January 14, 2017); two sisters Mona Beyer and Velma Warlick; brother Wayne Hooper; son Donald (Donnie) Grund; granddaughters Rhonda Canfield and Jacqueline (Jackie) Canfield; grandson Wade Robinson; and great granddaughter Reese Hotten.

Bonnie was a true light for Christ and a living testament to His love for each and every one of us.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
