Blanche Pulczinski Obituary

On March 22nd we lost our Sunshine; now, one of God’s brightest Angels. Blanche Pulczinski, who’s beauty shown both inside and out, was a vibrant, energetic, kind-hearted member of the Roseau Community for 86 years.

Blanche Arlyne Olson was born on March 24, 1933 to Benard and Alice (Olmstead) Olson.  She was raised in Malung township, where she attended Brandt Elementary School. Blanche was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Moe Lutheran Church, Roseau, MN. Following graduation from Roseau High School in 1952, she married Ralph Losse and had two children.

Once her children started school, she worked at Messelt’s Cafe as a waitress and cook. In 1967, Blanche began work at Polaris Industries as a Parts Department Supervisor and Production Control Planner. Later, she worked at Wahlberg’s and Mike’s Pharmacy for 20 years, followed by employment at the Pamida Pharmacy, where she continued on part-time, until she was 80 years old.

On September 4, 1971 she married Stephen Pulczinski in Roseau, MN. They lived in Fox, MN for 43 years. Blanche loved living in the country, where she enjoyed tending her yard and beautiful flowers and watching the flitting, singing birds. She appreciated the wonders of nature, and greeted each sunrise as a gift.

She and Steve enjoyed RV camping together with friends; attending many antique tractor shows and threshing bees. She was especially fond of driving her 1950 Massey 22 in festival parades and listening to old-time music.

Blanche loved travel; including her trips to Minneapolis and Wisconsin to spend time with her children. She was always open to new experiences and adventures. Highlights were visiting the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and attending Oktoberfest in Dallas, WI.

Blanche had an outgoing, can-do attitude and was always ready to pitch in. She volunteered at the Roseau Pioneer Farm for over 20 years, and was an enthusiastic organizer and event planner. She also volunteered for The Relay for Life, and at Moe Lutheran Church, where she remained an active lifelong member.

She is survived by her husband Steve of Roseau; son, Kim Losse (Donna Millard) of Dallas, WI and daughter, Kate Losse Hofman (Joe Hofman) of Minneapolis, MN. Stepchildren: Brenda (Arlen) Larson of Roseau, Helen Blawat of Roseau, Kelly Pulczinski of Barberton, OH and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Sister, Beverly Olson of Roseau, MN and several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benard and Alice Olson; brother, Ray Olson, brother, Roger Olson, sister, Kay Hoffman and nephew, Chad Hoffman.

She passed away surrounded by family. Blessed be her memory.

On Saturday, August 1, 2020 a private, graveside service was held for Blanche at the Malung Cemetery, with Pastor Todd Erickson officiating.

Following the service, a small group of family and friends gathered in her honor at the Roseau Pioneer Farm.
