Betty Ann Thompson

Betty Thompson passed away on July 02, 2024 at the TRFCC in Thief River Falls, Mn.   

Betty Ann Ingvalson was born on June 1st, 1925, to Joseph and Ella Ingvalson in Beltrami, Mn.  In 1941 her family moved to Roseau County.  She graduated from Badger High School in 1942.   

On Oct. 17, 1944, she married Andrew Thompson.  In 1947 Betty and Andrew bought a farm in  Stokes township.  They farmed and supplemented their income by working the potato fields in North Dakota in the fall and the beet harvest by Crookston, Mn.  In 1968 they sold their farm and bought a second place a few miles away.   They remained there until they moved to Badger in 1989.  Betty began working at Polaris Industries in 1968 and retired in 1985. 

Betty had a lifelong love of horses. As a child she would ride to school in Beltrami whenever possible.  As an adult she raced horses at the Roseau County Fair and rode in showmanship contests.   

In retirement Betty enjoyed her flower gardens, playing cards with friends, visiting family and other social activities. 

She is survived by two sons; Wayne (Darlene) of Great Falls, Mt, and Dale (Barbara) of Isanti, Mn.  Three Grandchildren, Eric, Heidi, and Bradley Thompson; five great-grandchildren Sara, Kjersten, and Jaiden Timm; Davis and Lindsay Thompson. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, one granddaughter and two great grandsons. 

Helgeson Funeral Home of Roseau is in charge of arrangements. 

A Memorial Service for Betty Thompson will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau with a visitation an hour prior.
