Elizabeth (Betty) Raye Keeler passed away peacefully on August 13th, 2021 at Lifecare Roseau Manor surrounded by her loving family.
Betty Raye Keeler was born on September 12, 1960 in Alexandria, MN to Conrad Skyberg and Arlane Lee. On February 23, 1966 she went to live with foster parents Ben and Donna St. Peter. She graduated from Fargo in 1979 and continued her education at Alexandria Technical College. On May 10, 1980 she was united in marriage to Verne Sletten and to this union, Desirae, Nathan and Jacob were born. They resided in Grygla, MN. On March 26, 2004 she was united in marriage to Cole Keeler and gained another daughter, Cheyenne.
Betty worked as a Material Handler at Polaris Industries in Roseau, MN for 29 years and retired in May 2013. Shortly after retirement, she was diagnosed with breast cancer that later spread throughout her body. She fought a long hard battle and stayed positive and strong throughout her whole journey.
There were so many things she enjoyed, some of them being gardening and spoiling her 2 cats, Reny and Miss Kitty. One of her many talents was taking “one’s trash” and turning it into a treasure. Spending time at the cabin at Oak Island and traveling with Cole to various destinations were some of her favorite times. Betty’s grandkids and family gatherings were always high on her priority list. Every day was like Christmas when she was around. In her spare time, she enjoyed canning, crafting, setting up shop at craft shows & farmers markets. The list goes on and on.
Betty will be remembered as a wonderful person who always thought of others before herself. Her thoughtfulness and compassion were something that stuck with anyone that knew her. She had 8 grandchildren, but any child she met knew her as “Grandma Betty”.
