Betty Anderson Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Betty J. Anderson will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 2:00PM at the Badger City Hall in Badger, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Betty Jean Anderson, formerly of Warroad and most recently of Roseau, was born on January 3, 1941, to Lorman and Bess Halverson in Grafton, North Dakota. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, where Betty grew up and later graduated from high school.

Betty married Dudley Mason, and together they welcomed four children: twins Jean and Joy, followed by Robin and Beaudy. After their divorce, she later married Marvin Anderson. They had two children, John—who passed away in infancy—and Merribeth.

Throughout her life, Betty worked in a variety of roles, but she found special meaning in her work supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. She held positions at the Grafton State School and REM Roseau, and also spent time working at Polaris before finishing her career at Marvin’s. Betty had a gift enjoyed visiting, attending auction sales, and sharing stories. She was an avid reader, loved paint-by-number projects and crossword puzzles, and had a soft spot for her pets, whom she lovingly spoiled.

Betty passed away on December 27 at Northern Horizons in Roseau.

She is survived by her brother, Jack (Robyn) Halverson; her children Jean Mason, Joy (Al) Ballbach, Robin Mason, Beaudy Mason, and Merribeth (Thomas) Englund; her grandchildren Becky (Kevin) Haid, Renae McRunnel, Adam (Mari) McRunnel, Kodie (Randall) Muirhead, Kassandra (Tyler) Erickson, and Hunter (Josephine) Ziska; and her great‑grandchildren Jazlyn, Freyja, Beatrix, Grayson, Nash, Paige, Jared, Tilden, Clara, and Kash. She is also lovingly remembered by her special niece Cheryl (Don) Johnson, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her infant son, John; and her parents, Lorman and Bessie (Slagel) Halverson.

She will be remembered for her spunk and quirky sense of humor.
