Barbara M. McFarlane

A Funeral Service for Barbara M. McFarlane of Roseau, MN will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 5-7PM at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH with a 7:00 prayer service in Roseau, MN. Visitation will also be one our prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Barnett National Cemetery in Badger, MN. 

Barbara Mae McFarlane, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at LifeCare Roseau Manor in Roseau, MN. Barbara was born May 12, 1932 to Eddie and Annie (Raichl) Svir in Barnett Township, Roseau County, MN.

She married Russell McFarlane on August 6, 1954 in Badger, MN. They lived in Montana, Washington and North Dakota before settling in Strathcona, MN, where they farmed.

Later they moved to Wannaska, MN where they raised their children. Barb enjoyed working at The Corner Café for many years as a cook. She also worked several years at Polaris Industries and Marvin Windows. In 1994 they sold the farm in Wannaska and moved into Roseau.

After Russell passed, Barb volunteered with Hospice and at The Nook in the Roseau Hospital. She enjoyed getting the coffee going and visiting with everyone each morning.

Barbara was a loving caregiver. She enjoyed baking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her children Kirby (Shelly) of Thief River Falls, MN, Leann (Cal) Brownlee of Tucson, AZ, Tamara (Jay) Noel of Eden Prairie, MN and Stuart (Beth) of Roseau, MN; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; also sisters Vivian Peterson of Badger, MN and Rose Massey of Woodbridge, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; son Greg; brothers Godfred, Jerry, John and sister Agnes. PS
