Arvid F. Williamson

Memorial services for Arvid Williamson of Greenbush, MN will be held on Friday, May 14th at 1:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services with interment at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.  Arvid passed away May 6, 2021 at the LifeCare Greenbush Manor at the age of 89.  A gathering of friends and family will be at the Greenbush American Legion after 2 PM.

Arvid Floyd Williamson was born December 20th, 1931 to Oscar K. and Frances Tina (Sampson) Williamson in rural Greenbush. Growing up on the farm and attending school in Greenbush, Arvid wore many hats in his early years. When his brother Kermit came home from his military service in the Korean War, he joined Arvid and their brother-in-law, Frederick Haugen in his plaster and stucco business. Together for many years they travelled near and far completing numerous projects throughout the region. During that time, he met his bride to be Daphne Lou Sorteberg. They were married at Moe-Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN on October 14th, 1955. While Arvid was busy with farming, plaster and doing stucco work, they started a family and their life together in rural Greenbush. Later years would bring them moving to town and Arvid then went to work at Marvin Windows and Doors in Warroad for over a decade before he retired at the age of 67. Arvid enjoyed his retirement years traveling throughout the local area making multiple stops sharing and conversing with all that he came into contact with. Arvid later became a resident at Lifecare Greenbush Manor. Arvid passed away peacefully May 6th, 2021 with family at his side at Lifecare Greenbush Manor. Arvid is survived by his sister, Beatrice Dvergsten; daughter, Monica (Gary) Trangsrud; son, Bradley (Kim) Williamson; son, Matthew (Dorie) Williamson; several nieces and nephews along with multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arvid is preceded in death by his bride, Daphne Williamson; parents, Oscar and Tina Williamson; infant sister, Baby Williamson; brother, Kermit Williamson; sister, Mabel Haugen; daughter, Suzann Prokosch; infant son, Rodney Williamson; son, Robbie Williamson and grandson, Ryan Trangsrud.

Honorary pallbearers are all of Arvid’s grandchildren; Heather, Kyle, Carly, Ashley, Amber, Tessany, Montgomery, Benjamin, Joseph, Megan, Bode and Declan Robbie.
