Arnold J. Freije

A Mass of Christian Burial for Arnold J. Freije of Warroad, MN, will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warroad, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Lankin, N.D.

Arnold passed away at his home on November 12, 2019 at the age of 77. Arnold was born on November 10, 1942 in Lawton, N.D. to Shaebel and Martha (Munyer) Freije.

Arnold attended Edmore Public School graduating in 1961. He then attended North Dakota State School of Science in 1962 and became a certified Diesel Mechanic completing a two year course into one year.  On November 28, 1962 he married Regina Novak in St. Anthony, Idaho.

Arnold worked for Casement Implement in Fordville, N.D. from 1962 – 1966, owned and operated Arnie’s Service in Fordville from 1967 – 1992, adding Hunter Alignment Service in 1972, Marsch Aviation in Mesa, AZ from 1992 – 1993 and Marvin Windows in Warroad, MN from 1993 – 2008.

Arnold was a league bowler and curled in Fordville serving as an active board member of the Curling Club. He was a private pilot, in the Sands Investment Club, a member of Muskies Inc., Knights of Columbus. He was on the Fordville City School Board, City Alderman and on the Park Board. He enjoyed bowling, curling, fishing, woodworking playing cards and casino games.

Arnold is survivied by his wife, Regina (Jeanie) Freije of Warroad; sons, DeLon Freije of Fordville, ND and Shawn (Joanne) Freije and their son, Seth of Duluth, MN; sister, Delores McCown of Grand Prairie, TX; and brother, Howard (Mary Ann) Freije of Grand Forks, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shabel and Martha Freije; In-laws, Frank and Rose Novak; sisters, Sadie, Yvonne, Gloria, Devonna and Evelyn; brothers, George, Bud, Raymond Alfred, Shabel Jr., Bob and John; two nephews and one niece.
