Arlene Carlson

Arlene Carlson of Roseau passed away at LifeCare Roseau Manor in Roseau on May 30, 2022 at the age of 93.

A Funeral Service for Arlene will be held at the Free Lutheran Church of Roseau on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 2:00pm with a visitation an hour prior. A Visitation will also be held the night before at Helgeson Funeral in Roseau from 5:00-7:00pm with a prayer service starting at 7:00pm. Interment will be held at Eddy-Oak Hill Cemetery in Roseau.

Arlene was born on December 5, 1928, to Herman and Chrystella (Nelson) Thompson in Appam, ND. In 1936 the family moved to the Wannaska community and in 1942 Arlene graduated from Casperson Grade School. In 1970 she earned her GED. On December 3, 1947 Arlene married Stanley Carlson and they lived on the farm he was born on for 58 years.  After Stanley’s death in 2006, she moved to Roseau, MN. Arlene was active in Church Quilting and Women’s Church Organizations, Local and State WTCU, the Roseau Senior Center, and taught Friday release classes for several years.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Rose (Gene) Finstrom of Buxton, Crystal “Cris” (Dale) Finstrom of Glyndon, and Bonita “Bunny” Carlson of Fargo; grandchildren, Dawn Linder, Darren Linder, Gretchen (James) Tinjum, Matt (Amy) Finstrom, Laura Finstrom, and Dave (Tiffanie) Finstrom; great grandchildren, Donavan Linder, Dalton (Sarah) Linder, Devon (McKenna) Linder,  Drake Tinjum, Vivian Tinjum, McKenzie Finstrom, McKayla Finstrom, Elijah Finstrom, Isabel Finstrom, and Ezekiel Finstrom; great great grandchildren, Finley Linder and Otto Linder; and sister, Bernice Knudsen.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; parents; son-in-law, Craig Linder; brothers, Clinton, Walter, Roy, and James; and special friend Gilbert Loe.
