Alfred Wayne Alten was born March 29, 1954 to Walter K Sr & Lila (Brateng) Alten.
He attended school in Wannaska until 6th grade, then to Roseau School until 10th Grade. When he left school, he moved to Grand Forks and lived with his sister, Virginia. While there, he worked as a shoe shine boy then went on to work at the potato chip factory.
In 1973, after the death of his brother Randy, he left Grand Forks and moved to Warroad. Alfred started work at Marvin Windows & Doors. While there he worked in different areas, finishing his career there as a truck driver. He worked at Marvins for 28 years. Next couple of years he was an over the road truck driver, however he would rather be close to home working.
Around 2003, he was hired at Halverson Sand & Gravel. Alfred worked until summer of 2023, then switching to part time until November when he was no longer able to work due to his illness.
Alfred met Donna(Kimble) in 1973. A short time later, they were married December 21, 1973. Celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary December 2023.
Alfred enjoyed hunting and fishing, but lately it was fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed grilling out and smoking meats in his smoker.
Alfred was one of those jack of all trades kind of guy. Whenever the kids or grandkids needed something fixed or help with something, he was there to get the job done.
