William "Bill" I. Hagen Sr.

A Celebration of Life For William "Bill" Hagen of rural Salol, MN will be held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 11 AM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-8 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau.  Interment will be at Spruce Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Spruce Cemetery.

William “Bill” I. Hagen Sr. passed away on May 8, 2019 at his home in rural Warroad, MN at the age of 81.

Bill was born on November 8, 1937 to Adolph Hagen and Ruth (Harding) in Warroad, MN. He attended elementary school in Salol and graduated from Roseau High School.  After his schooling, Bill started his lifelong career in farming, in addition to many business enterprises with his partner and brother-in-law, Jon Miller; including, North Star Transport of Roseau, Thief River Falls and Eagan, MN, Arctic Cat, Roseau Diesel Service, Inc. and Miller & Hagen Investments. He was on the board of Directors at Border State Bank and Arctic Cat Industries.

While his work was very important, Bill enjoyed life!  He loved to travel and spent many winters in Florida.  He enjoyed his hunting trips, boating, golfing and spending time with his family and friends.  In his younger years, Bill enjoyed racing snowmobiles from coast to coast, from Mammoth, CA to the East Coast. He raced in both cross-country and oval races, winning his fair share of each. Bill will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his attention to detail and his kind heart.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hagen of Warroad; son, William Jr. of Salol; daughter, Lori (Ron) Minard of Bozeman, MT; step-daughter, Missy (Steve) Tedford of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Camryn Hagen, Tyler, Jared and Jacob Minard and Taylor Tedford; great-grandson, Matthew; and sisters, Vivian (Jon) Miller of Warroad and Darlene Wolff of Huntsville, AL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, David.
