Thomas James Whelan

Funeral services for Thomas J. Whelan of Fargo, formerly of Roseau, will be held on Friday, October 12th, at 4:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau; with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Hope Cemetery in Roseau. Thomas Whelan passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the age of 74.

Thomas James Whelan was born on July 13, 1944 in Chicago, IL to parents James Joseph and Florence (Jones).  He grew up on the north side of Chicago with his two younger brothers, Frank and Michael, until he enlisted in the U.S. Army from August 1965-67.  After being honorably discharged he went back to Chicago.  There years later he met his wife Martha (Zinter).  They made their home in Minnesota and raised their two children, Heather and Amber.  He worked at Marvin Windows and Doors for 20 yrs, before he retired. The remainder of his life was spent with his 7 grandchildren. He died Oct. 4 2018.

Survived by:  Mother of his children, Martha Whelan; his children, Heather Whelan and Amber (Alan Munoz) Whelan; and 7 grandchildren; special friends, Diana and Bret Manley of Chicago IL.

Preceded in death:  His parents, James and Florence, and his infant grandson, James; friend, Catherine Manley.
