Susan M Byars

A Memorial Service for Susan Byars of Baudette will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Baudette.

Susan Marie (Dougherty) Byars was born September 25, 1950 to Bill and Delores Dougherty in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She spent her childhood between Minnesota and California where she graduated high school from DeAnza High School in 1968. Shortly after graduation she went to nursing school for a period of time before marrying Mike Pedras in 1972. The following year, 1973, their son Loren Michael was born. Two years later, Chad Joseph was born. That was also the year Susan and Mike divorced.

Susan met Bill Byars in 1976. They married in 1978. Following their marriage, Bill adopted Loren and Chad. As the boys were growing up, she enjoyed coaching Loren and his teammates in baseball, leading them to three consecutive first place seasons.

Susan enjoyed painting, watching and mastering Bob Ross’s painting techniques, as well as wood burning.

Susan and Bill relocated to Baudette, Minnesota from California in 2010 to be closer to Susan’s mom, Delores. After her mother’s passing in 2012, Susan’s health began to deteriorate. She arrived at Warroad Senior Living Center May 2019, where she passed away peacefully September 4.

Susan is survived by husband Bill of Baudette; sons Loren (Maria) of Baudette and Chad (Jenifer) of California; grandchildren Marie, Adriana, Lorena, Aeleyna, Michael and Chad Jr.
