Robert "Bob" G. Goudge

Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Goudge of Baudette, MN will be held on Friday, July 27th at 10:30 AM at First Lutheran Church in Baudette, with Military Honors by the Baudette Veterans Ceremonial Squad.  Masonic Services will be on Thursday evening at 6 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN.  Interment will be at the Hines Township Cemetery in Hines, MN.

Robert (Bob) Gene Goudge passed away Sunday July 22, 2018, at the Paynesville Hospital.  Bob was born on March 7, 1940, in Montevideo, MN to William and Zana (Dahl) Goudge.  Bob moved to Minneapolis for a time with his mother and brother Bill.  When Bob was 8 years old he and Bill moved to Hines, MN where they were raised by Dennis and Nina Thireault.  Bob graduated from Blackduck High School in 1958.  After high school Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1962.  During his time of Service he was stationed in Korea with the 107th Graves Registration Unit.   After his discharge, Bob became a Merchant Marine and sailed the Great Lakes. 

On June 6, 1964, Bob married Cheryl Page at Hines, MN.  Bob and Cheryl moved to Bemidji when Bob attended Bemidji State University.  In 1970, their first child, Curtis Dean was born.  They moved to Brainerd, MN where Bob was employed as a County Social Worker.  In 1973, their second child, Brian Alan was born.  In 1974 Bob was hired as a County Welfare Director by the Lake of the Woods County Board.  The family then moved to Baudette in 1976. Bob was a strong voice for the social welfare system and received high recognition for his contributions to numerous programs.  Bob also helped numerous individuals through very challenging times in their lives.  He never wanted any recognition but instead just wanted to help.  Bob was the one to call if you just needed to talk about life and those calls will be dearly missed. 

Bob Goudge was preceded in death by Cheryl his beloved wife of 53 years, son Curtis, his parents, and brother, Bill.  He is survived by his son Brian Alan (Laurie), grandsons Mason Robert and Owen Curtis, brother n law Dale (Shelia) Page of Hines and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service 10:30 AM Friday, July 27th at First Lutheran Church in Baudette.
