A Memorial Service for Richard E. Misel Sr. of Baudette, MN will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the Baudette American Legion. Military service to start at 6:00PM.
Richard E. Misel Sr. was born on April 8, 1943 to George Misel Sr. and Bertha (Greene) in Youngstown, Ohio. He was the youngest of three children. Richard attended school in Girard, Ohio throught the 8th grade before he started working. In 1960 he joined the United States Army and served from 60-62. While in the Army he obtained his GED.
After his time in the Army he worked in various factories before beginning his job at GM. He enjoyed playing softball and bowling with UAW. Richard also worked part-time as a mechanic to help pay for his biggest love, drag racing. He raced in Youngstown at Ohio Drag City, at Quaker City Drag Strip in Salem, Ohio, and at Sunset Drag Strip in Mercer, Pennsylvania. He loved vacationing and hunting and fishing in Baudette, MN and in 1995 he retired to Baudette. Richard was also a big Dallas Cowboys fan and Alabama Crimson Tide, “Roll Tide”.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Marcell (Inman); parents, George and Bertha; children, three stillborn and infant daughter, Mildred Marie Misel; sisters, Sylvia and Linda; brother, George “Sunny”.
His is survived by his children, Richard (Pamela S. Brown) Misel, Melanie Misel; grandchildren, Randy Misel, Rachel Misel; great-grandchild, Rohan Ottinger.
Memorial are preferred in Richard's honor to help a local veteran or animal shelter in honor of his dog, Buddy.
