Pearl passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020, at LifeCare Manor in Roseau. She was surrounded by family members singing “Rock of Ages” and “I’ll Fly Away”.

Pearl Erickson was born on January 25, 1922, in Reine Township of Roseau County to Thor and Selma (Aakre) Folling. She attended school in Roseau and graduated from Roseau High School.

On April 18, 1944, Pearl married Earl Joe Erickson in Roseau.

Pearl was smart, capable, and hard-working as a loving wife, mom, and grandma, in working on the farm, in cooking at the Salol School, in running a local grocery, and in serving at the Salol Post Office, first as an officer-in-charge, and then for 20 years as Postmistress. Pearl and Joe were very generous and enjoyed having coffee and goodies, or lunch with anyone who dropped in to their home. Pearl enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She loved photographing sunsets, singing, and knew how to yodel. She was an active member of the Norland Free Lutheran Church, Salol Homemakers, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Even during her last year she would join with others in singing “Jesus Loves Me” and other hymns, quoting John 3:16, and praying the Lord’s Prayer. She was known at the Roseau Manor for her sweet personality and big hugs.

Pearl is survived by four children, Carl (Kim) Erickson of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon MacKenzie of Florida, Linda (Jim) Fugleberg of Moorhead, MN, Tim (Char) Erickson of Roseau, MN; twelve grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Erickson; sisters Mabel (Norris) Fevold, Bobby (Vernon) Hovda, Agnes (Carl) Grand, Norma (Art) Erickson; infant son John David Erickson; great-granddaughter Nora Munstenteiger; and preborn great-grandson Seriah Fugleberg.

The family would like to give a special thank you for the loving care given by Karin and the workers at Northern Horizons, and to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Roseau Manor, who treated Pearl as their own mother. Pearl’s family is most grateful.
