Mary Wammer Obituary

Mary Jo Wammer was born on April 8, 1946 in the Warroad Hospital to Joseph and Emma (Johnson) Wammer, and grew up in Warroad, MN.  She attended Warroad Schools, graduating in 1964.  Mary then attained her bachelor’s degree from Concordia College (Moorhead) in 1968 and attained an MBA from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 1977.  Mary was employed as a business education teacher in the Mahtomedi, MN School District, and also taught at colleges in Minnesota and Arizona.  After her teaching career, she worked as a stockbroker with Kidder Peabody and Merrill Lynch in Orange County, CA, before returning to her childhood home in Warroad.

While in Warroad, Mary enjoyed volunteering with the Warroad Historical Society.  The history of the area and her family’s roots here were of great interest to her.  She also enjoyed her many German Shepherd “friends” that she had throughout the years.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Robert) Wilson, Hibbing, MN; nephews, Anthony Wilson and Benjamin (Jessica Kida) Wilson, Hibbing, MN; cousin, Kathryn Stennes; numerous other close cousins and friends.  Her family would like to thank the special friends that have been of great help to Mary over the last few years: Claudia, Sugar, Star, Doreen and Noel.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wammer, in 1970, and Emma Wammer, in 1980.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.  Memorials are preferred to the family.
