Lois Nystrom Obituary

Funeral services for Lois Nystrom of Roseau will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Moe Lutheran Church in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau, MN. Lois Nystrom passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the age of 79. 

Lois Harriet Nystrom was born on June 6, 1940 in Roseau, MN to Harold and Alma (Hushagen) Bird. She attended school in Roseau, graduating from high school in 1958.

Lois married Frank Nystrom on October 25, 1958, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. They resided in Roseau and raised their two children, Bruce and Shelly. Lois ran the Skime Store for a while, until they moved to Roseau in 1966. She worked at Polaris Industries and Eventide Nursing Home. Together, she and Frank opened Nystrom TV and Appliance.

Lois was a Charter Member of the Roseau Eagles for 37 years and at one time was the president of the club. She was a member of Moe Lutheran Church for over 50 years.

Lois loved playing cards – she was very competitive! When she was younger she loved to dance. She especially loved going to all her kids’ and grandkids’ activities and sporting events. Lois also enjoyed visiting with people, hosting card parties, and watching the Minnesota Wild hockey team and Minnesota Twins baseball team.

Lois Nystrom passed away on Wednesday, October 23 at the LifeCare Medical Center. She was 79 years old.

Lois is survived by her children Bruce (Sue) Nystrom of Roseau and Shelly (Mike) Lane of Roseau; grandchildren Danny Tuggle of Miami, FL, Heather Johnson of Roseau, Luke (Toni) Olson of Albuquerque, NM, Kelsey (Keith) Vatnsdal of Roseau, Kursten Kennedy of Grand Forks, ND, Kylie (Brian) Volpei of Los Angelse, CA; great-grandchildren Spencer, Evie, Laura, Joran, Henryk, Carter, Arya, Ethan, Jaxon, Molly. Lois is also survived by her sisters-in-law Eldri Vatnsdal and Elaine Nystrom; brother-in-law Bob Vick; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank; sister Marlys; sister-in-law Esther, brother-in-law Orville.
